| The NEWSOME GOSPEL MUSIC AWARD SHOW is geared towards the gospel announcer, the artist, gospel TV shows, gospel Internet radio stations and various other individuals that have contributed so much to the gospel community, but has not received the just recognition for all their hard work and talent. Project submission is free to all artists. Nominees will be selected from submissions received. The nominees selected in the various categories can purchase tickets 1/2 off to the show. Additional tickets may be purchased at full cost. In order to win the Newsome Award artist must be present at the show. Categories and Rules/ Regulations Children Solo, Group, and Choir We are proud to give our children a chance to show off there gifts and talents and to be recognized for there service. Children under 18 submitting a tape or CD must get there parents to sign the nomination form to have there work reviewed and submitted. Gospel Singing Artist, Soloist, Group or Duo, Choir, Female Vocalist, Male Vocalist, Liturgical Dance, Mime Ministry, Instrumentalist, Holy Hip Hop Group, and Spoken Word: For artist to be eligible for the NEWSOME AWARDS these individual artists, group, choir or duo must have a CD or tape project. This project must have sold less than six thousand units. Sales could be between one and 5,999. In order to receive the award. If an artist has received an award and the award committee finds out that that artist did not meet the criteria, the award will be forfeited by the first place artist and given to the second place artist. Materials submitted must be in a packaged CD package or a tape package. No items will be accepted hand written on Cd's or tapes. International Artist: The NEWSOME AWARDS is proud to have our section for international gospel artist. These artist have the opportunity to submit there CD or tape for the show. International artist must register there CD or tape. For international artist only, they do not have to be present to win the NEWSOME AWARD, but they do have to submit there fee and purchase a ticket to the show. Artist from all over the world are invited to submit there products. Products must be done in English or as close as possible. TV Gospel Show: Television gospel shows that are eligible for the NEWSOME AWARDS must be a show shown on local cable channels (Call Letters Must Be Given) or can be on a national network. All entrants in this category must submit a tape of there show and a brief bio of the person to be nominated for the award. Entrants into this category must be showing on a television station, whether locally or nationally. Pastor and Sermon of the Year: Individuals in this category must submit a video taped sermon or an audio cassette of the sermon to be eligible for the award. All entrants are encouraged to submit their work. Producer, Packaging, and Video of the Year: Producer of the Year and Best Video and Album Packaging of the Year: These individuals must submit the package they wish the committee to review. Packages will not be returned. Internet Radio: To be nominated in this category the individual must submit a bio of why they feel this Internet radio station should receive the award. A bio and information on the station should be submitted as well as information on the programmer or owner. College and High School Choir of the Year: The groups can produce original works or works in Public Domain to be considered for these categories. The groups must have a CD or take out. E-Magazine of the Year: Companies in this category must have a electronic magazine publication out and in distribution to be considered for this category. Traditional Group or Duo: Traditional Group or Duo of the Year-Artist outline and theme must have a traditional feel, rhythm, and beat to be considered for this category. Honorary Newsome Award: Honorary Newsome Award-This category is open to any gospel artist in a particular field of ministry. An Honorary Newsome Award is obtain when there is not enough artist for a particular category. Then those individuals will be placed in the Honorary Awards and voted on in that particular category. Classical Gospel CD: Classical Gospel CD, for this category the CD submitted must be a project that is 20 years or older. It can be a remake of that older project and the project can be taken from Public Domain music. It must carry the same lyrics and melody as it was sung in its original state. (Ex. A contemporary artist in 2005 singing a tune or a hymn from 1970), this would be allowed for this category. The Process SPECIAL NOTE: THE NEWSOME AWARDS WILL HAVE OVER 1200 CATEGORIES ONLY 8 CATEGORIES WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE SHOW, TO RUN A CATEGORY THERE MUST BE AT LEAST 4 NOMINEE REPRESENTED IN THAT PARTICULAR CATEGORY, THE NEWSOME AWARDS RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADD ARTIST TO OTHER CATEGORIES TO HELP FILL OUT A CATEGORY ALL PACKAGES AND MATERIALS WILL BE REVIEWED BY OUR NOMINATING COMMITTEE. AFTER CAREFUL REVIEW OF THE MATERIALS THE COMMITTEE WILL SUBMIT A LIST OF THE NOMINEES, VIA INTERNET. (NOMINATING COMMITTEE DECISIONS ARE FINAL) THE VOTING PROCESS WILL TAKE PLACE ONLINE. INDIVIDUALS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE ONCE PER DAY. THE INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING THE MOST VOTES IN THEIR CATEGORY WILL RECEIVE THE NEWSOME AWARD. NOTE: NOMINEES MUST BE PRESENT AT THE SHOW TO WIN THE AWARD. IF THE WINNER IS NOT PRESENT AT THE SHOW, THE AWARD WILL GO TO THE NEXT HIGHEST VOTES. THE VOTING WEBSITE WILL BE WWW.NEWSOMEAWARDS.COM. GET THOSE ENTRIES IN TODAY. PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED NOW UNTIL APRIL 10, 2009. AFTER APRIL 10, 2009 THE NOMINEE PORTION WILL BE CLOSED AND WE WILL BEGIN OUR VOTING PROCESS. THE NOMINEES WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THERE NOMINATIONS BY MAIL OR EMAIL OR POSTED TO OUR WEBSITE BY APRIL 20, 2009. THE VOTING PROCESS WILL BEGIN APRIL 30, 2009 AND END MAY 14, 2009. THE VOTING WILL TAKE PLACE ONLINE. NOMINEES CAN GET FRIENDS, RELATIVES, CO-WORKERS, OR ANYONE TO VOTE FOR THEM. THERE WILL BE ONE VOTE PER DAY. WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE SHOW.
